Aloha...
Post by Nai`aSo anyone else updating their Disaster Response Plans today?
Only relocating my UPS batteries to the floor...
can't fall down if already on floor :-)
Post by Nai`aAloha mai Nai`a, running on Generator Power.
Thank you for being Lava.NET...
Here on Kaua'i, my DSL internet access experienced no glitches,
so HawaiianTel kept the circuit up to O'ahu from Kaua'i, and
LavaNet's generator kept the ISP on the other end of my circuit live...
which was good, because the TV channels coming in via OceaniCable
had no early info on the earthquake... and even NOAA's PTWC website
didn't update Hawaiian status page until 55 minutes after the first quake,
despite the fact that that update claims to have been isued to Civil Defense
fully 51 minutes before the website update, i.e. 4 minutes after first quake.
In other words, it was impossible to confirm that there was no Tsunami threat,
before the Tsunami would have arrived at Kaua'i, and therefore, all
other isles.
Not even having a weather alert radio would have helped apearantly,
as the weather broadcasts also contained no info.
