Verizon is offering DSL at $29.95 a month which is $15 a month less
than Road Runner. Has anyone switched. If so, any comments about the
difference in speed, reliability, features, etc??

Thanx,

Rich

You'll have to send email OUT their servers, and you probably won't have
a static IP address, and you'll have to deal with their technical support,
but otherwise... it's probably a decent deal.

Now if you want a static IP address, AndOr to be able to run servers,
AndOr decent technical support, you'll probably have to pay a bit more.

The current generation of ATM-based DSL works QUITE well, even up to the
7100x768 (Kbps) service level.

i was forced to switch to dsl when i moved into my current apartment
because this building has an exclusive contract with a different company
for its cable tv service. I chose verizon dsl because of the price. I
must say that there is very little downtime with my verizon dsl. the
biggest advantage that rr had over my dsl is that the 768k download cap
sucks when it comes to sharing the internet connection between the 5 comps
on my network, especially if one of the computers is downloading anything.
also, my pings for online gaming have been a little more unstable with dsl.

as good as my dsl service has been, i'd still go back to rr if i had the
chance. the download cap and the unstable pings in my games have put a
major cramp on normal computer usage. perhaps if these problems don't
bother you then verizon dsl would be better in many ways than rr. i know
that there are more dsl options out there that will outperform rr without
any trouble but pretty much all of those options are out of my price range.

Why did you choose that speed?
How much does it cost to upgrade to 1544x384?

Also, are you on Frame Relay DSL or ATM DSL?
The ATM DSL seems to have VERY consistent pingtimes.
